1 Timothy 1:4

[GNT] Tell them to give up those legends and those long lists of ancestors, which only produce arguments; they do not serve God's plan, which is known by faith.

[BBE] It was my desire, when I went on into Macedonia, that you might make a stop at Ephesus, to give orders to certain men not to put forward a different teaching,

[KJV] Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

[NKJV] nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.

[KJ21] neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which promote questions rather than godly edifying in the faith, so do!

[NASB] nor to (Or occupy themselves with)pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance (I.e., prob. the plan of salvation)the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now.

[NRSV] and not to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculations rather than the divine training that is known by faith.

[WEB] and not to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes, rather than God's stewardship, which is in faith—

[ESV] nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith.

[NIV] nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.

[NIrV] Stay there in Ephesus. That is what I told you to do when I went into Macedonia. I want you to command certain people not to teach things that aren't true.

[HCSB] or to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. These promote empty speculations rather than God's plan, which operates by faith.

[CSB] or to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. These promote empty speculations rather than God's plan, which operates by faith.

[AMP] Nor to give importance to or occupy themselves with legends (fables, myths) and endless genealogies, which foster and promote useless speculations and questionings rather than acceptance in faith of God's administration and the divine training that is in faith (in that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence)--

[NLT] Don't let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don't help people live a life of faith in God.

[YLT] nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, that cause questions rather than the building up of God that is in faith: --
