[NIV] God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

[NIrV] So we are Christ's official messengers. It is as if God were making his appeal through us. Here is what Christ wants us to beg you to do. Come back to God!

[HCSB] He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

[CSB] He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

[AMP] For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

[NLT] For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

[YLT] for him who did not know sin, in our behalf He did make sin, that we may become the righteousness of God in him.
